Quick Tip: change vase water with a turkey baster from Real Simple.
“Use the baster to suction up the liquid without disturbing your arrangement. Then add fresh water directly from the tap.”
I don’t have a green thumb, but this tip seems simple enough for me! It’s a great way to get rid of the smelly water in your vase and easily replace it without making a mess. (And it gives your turkey baster a use outside of Thanksgiving!).
Do you have any other turkey baster tricks?

Yes, also plant related. If the soil is very dry, sometimes the water flows around the soil and flows out the little holes, into a tray or saucer dish. Using the turkey baster, draw up that water and slowly put it back into the plant, nudging the soil around a little so you give that plant a good soaking dose of water all around it.
That’s smart – and a great way to avoid wasting water!
