Quick Tip: Surprising uses for olive oil from The Daily Green.
“Olive oil is more than a cartoon character, a historic symbol of peace and glory, or a food staple of the much-vaunted Mediterranean diet. It is actually tremendously useful stuff, finding applications in personal care, home improvement, green cleaning, natural remedies, and other areas.”
I agree! Although I usually just use olive oil to saute vegetables and toss into pasta to keep it from sticking, there are definitely a lot of non-food related uses on this list. My favorites:
- Taking a sip of olive oil to curb snoring
- Feeding some olive oil (subtly) to your cat to improve its health
- Putting a little olive oil by your ear to cure an earache

Great ideas for making the most of your olive oil. I also know people who use it on their scalp and skin to fight dryness.
wow those are interesting little tips!! thanks for sharing!! I had an earache last week and am pregnant so I didnt want to put anything in my ear, good to know about the olive oil! very natural!
I’m always amazed at the alternative uses for everyday products! Thanks for the tips!
So you just take a sip of olive oil and you don’t snore any more?
How curious. I may have to try that on my mom…

I’m pretty curious about the snoring one, too… it’s definitely one I’d like to try for my dad! But overall – they are really interesting uses that I’d like to check out.
Really??! Who knew?
Very interesting. Thank you. I like the earache one for little ones.
Isn’t it great? I use the last few drops in the bottle to moisturize my hands after washing dishes.
I would love for you to stop by my blog!

Ooh, I’m definitely going to try it out for moisturizing my hands – especially now that winter’s starting soon and my skin’s going to get pretty dry.
