“Babies don’t need expensive toys – just this book and you!”
Check out this book: Baby Smarts by Jackie Silberg. It was a “soon to be a mommy” gift from Boston’s own Mommy Niri (thanks!) at the Boston BlogHer Meetup.
One of the games from the book:
“Floating Feathers”
Developmental Milestone: Babies who are 3-6 months old may respond to experiences that stimulate their senses.
- Lie down on your back with your baby next to you.
- Throw a brightly colored feather in the air and watch it gently float to the ground.
- This is a very relaxing game to play and it also challenges your baby to follow (track) objects with her eyes.
Note: You can find feathers at art supply stores.
Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to the recent Boston BlogHer Meetup, due to my family vacation – but it seems like a fantastic time was had by all. Alana was able to go in my stead & meet some of the amazing local bloggers, including Mommy Niri!
Will this book simplify my life? Absolutely. Encouraging my baby’s development without too many clunky toys sounds like a win-win.
